Buying a side of Beef In East Tennessee
When I first moved to Knoxville, I had thought about buying a side of beef. I have a deep freezer and thought that it would be a great idea if we put the beef in it. This way, I can have it over time and not ever have to worry about running out of meat. So, for the last week, I have been spending 2 to 3 hours a day trying to find the side of a cow that I wanted.
I never really thought that this would be as difficult as it has been. With that said, today, my search finally ended. I made a purchase of entire cow for $200 more than what I found the best price on half a cow for. If you are in East Tennessee and need help with this, just email me and I will save you a ton of heart ache.
We are interested in buying beef, we wanted to know how much per pound and would love to know where you purchased yours…
I have also been doing a little research on where the best deal/beef is located around the Knoxville area, and I mean ‘little’…havent gotten far at all …We are new to Maryville, and would love to go this route stocking our freezer full of meat, veggies, & fruits.
We have neighbors who recently about a side and paid just over one dollar per . They said the beef is great quality. I didn’t get much more info so I don’t know where the purchase was made or how the cow was raised.
Another friend wants to go halves with me, but is insisting on grass fed vs. grain fed. At about $3 per pound, it sounds pretty pricey.
This is all new to us, so any information you can offer would be appreciated.
Thanks.
Toni
